Subregional economic cooperation: initial possibilities for Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, Viet Nam and Yunnan Province of the People's Republic of China

This study of subregional economic cooperation emphasises that by cooperating among themselves, the six countries of the subregion can provide a policy and infrastructure framework that maximises the returns on public and private investment. This publication presents the findings of Phase I, and suggests future directions for Phase II of the study. The conference was held to discuss the work undertaken in Phase I of the study, and the results of the country consultations at the outset of Phase II. The Conference discussions focused on subregional cooperation in the following areas: transport, energy, environment, human resource development, trade and investment and tourism.
