Vocational training policy in Nepal

Throughout the decade, Nepal has become increasingly concerned over the need to provide adequate numbers of skilled manpower to maintain the momentum created by many new development projects which range from health and agriculture to construction, energy and secondary industries. To cope with bridging the gap between education/training and employment opportunities for educated/trained people, a streamlining policy was formulated in 1971 and implemented on a phase-wise basis. It is recognised that Nepal must put even more emphasis on developing programs which are more appropriate to the need; cost effective and which produce graduates who are easily employed.
