The intention of this paper was to inform discussion of the extent to which the education and training system is responding effectively to the changing needs of the health and community services industry sectors. This is one of a series of industry case studies conducted by Performance Management Solutions for the Australian National Training Authority (ANTA). This particular case study used a structured search and evaluation workshop to: examine existing industry training plans; consider an analysis of the changing profile of qualification used by the industry group; discuss the strategies proposed to assist the education and training system to meet the demands of the industry group; explore priorities for further action. Workshop participants were drawn from the Health and Community Services ITAB. Appendices are: A - Workshop participants; B - Health: state employment qualification trends 1988-2005; C - Community services: state employment qualification trends 1988-2005. This was an ANTA funded project.
