High level review of training packages: phase 3 consultation paper.

Since the first training package was endorsed in 1997, industry, society, and the vocational education and training (VET) sector have changed markedly. While training packages have been continuously updated and improved, they are now undergoing a high level review to see how they, and the structures supporting them, can be improved to strengthen teaching and learning to better meet current and future skill needs. This high level review will: research changes in the world of work and learning in which training packages operate; analyse the way training packages are implemented 'on the ground', including the support materials and professional development available to teachers and trainers, and how well the development and inbuilt review processes work; and recommend any necessary improvements to the training packages model and the systems and structures that support them. This paper is from the third phase which has, so far, involved a review of key documents, targeted consultations and a national forum. This consultation paper provides a host of questions for stakeholders to respond to regarding training packages. Based on the feedback, an Options Paper will be prepared which will form the basis of discussions within the National Training Quality Council (NTQC) in consultation with State and Territory CEOs.
