These guidelines have been designed to stand alone as a major resource to assist employers and/or those involved in recruitment and selection processes to select employees who will 'successfully meet their present and future business needs' (p.4). It describes a five-step process for completing: - a job analysis to identify exactly what tasks and skills it involves - identifying the skills and attributes of the 'right' person - writing the job description - conducting an interview and selecting the most appropriate candidate. It is intended for use in a range of industries and for positions requiring a range of skill levels. A small number of tips on ways of identifying the literacy and numeracy levels of candidates are given.
