Point and counterpoint: whereas the peoplereconstructing civics education in Australian schools

The report of the Civics Expert Group, Whereas the People...Civics and Citizenship Education, in 1994 has paved the way for the revival of civics education in Australian schools. This collection of papers raises two main questions: can civics education in the late twentieth century cater for the diversity and difference that characterises Australian schools and is Social Studies, the dominant pedagogy of civics education, capable of incorporating a vigorous civics education program?
