Quality and qualifications: ignorance, insight, and the experienced teacher in successful curriculum change

The author identifies quality in teaching as that deemed by students, teachers and supervisors as achieving high levels of student learning in relevant, accurate and life-enhancing knowledge. The subject Senior Legal Studies was introduced in Queensland secondary schools at Years 11 and 12. Surveys found that teachers who lacked legal training coped very successfully with the subject. The author explores the substance of the success claims for evidence of the quality of the learning.
