In response to radical theory: a humanist perspective

The Australian Association for the Teachers of English has advocated new approaches to classroom practice in the teaching of English. Such approaches have been termed 'radical literary theory' (RLT). The author offers a number of criticisms of 'theory' and highlights the dangers of an uncritical acceptance of RLT.
