Abstract:
This study examined various occupations in order to conduct an analysis generating information about the affective domain of worker characteristics to inform vocational-technical educators, teacher educators and curriculum development specialists. It specifically compared the work ethic of workers from private industry across standard occupational classifications. The study was conducted in the state of Tennessee and the Occupational Work Ethic Inventory (OWEI) used as the method of instrumentation. Findings indicated that the self-rated perception of work ethic varied by occupations and recommendations are made to encourage vocational education practitioners to use this information for improving the design and implementation of training for industry employment.
