Author: Robinson, Chris

Abstract:

The following three issues are seen as providing enormous challenges for the Australian VET system: (1) the impact of the changing nature of work; (2) the demand by learners for more customisation in training provision; and (3) the impact of the rapid aging of our population and what this means for learning strategies and the re-thinking of how we go about providing VET. In this article Chris Robinson asks the questions - is the VET system serving Australia well, and does it have the capacity to meet future challenges? To meet the challenges, Robinson argues that Australia will need to increase its national investment in skills and knowledge.
