Abstract:
In this paper the authors suggest that because the new knowledge economy demands that learning occurs with direct confrontation with information that is increasingly delivered electronically, teaching the processes and skills of thinking has become critical. Concepts from the frameworks of cognitive psychology, education and information science are discussed from the perspective of the contribution they make to understandings of pedagogy. It is suggested that teacher practitioners are best situated to nurture lifelong learners.
