Abstract:

This discussion paper is one in a series that will form the basis for consultation as part of the revision of 'Skilling WA: a workforce development plan for Western Australia (WA). Released in December 2010, this strategic framework was the Western Australian government response to workforce planning and development challenges in WA and set out strategies designed to build, attract and retain a skilled workforce. The revision of the framework will take place during 2013-2014 with the goal of ensuring its relevance for current state workforce planning and development issues. In particular, this paper focuses on Skilling WA's strategic goal of planning and coordinating a strategic state government response to workforce development issues in WA.
