Abstract:

[This is a] report examining evidence on the extent of participation in lifelong learning, the characteristics of lifelong learning and the benefits of lifelong learning. [It] looks at patterns of participation in different forms of lifelong learning, the characteristics of learners, whether qualifications were gained and at what level. [It] models the effect of participation in different types of lifelong learning on individual wellbeing and health-related outcomes, focusing on life-satisfaction, self-efficacy, depression, smoking, alcohol consumption and exercising.
