Abstract:

The Access to Assessment Initiative (AAI) was established to improve, broaden and facilitate access to assessment for National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs), including the assessment and accreditation of prior learning (APL) for individuals and employers.

The aims and objectives of the Initiative included: advising employers on NVQ implementation and on provision on NVQ assessment and verification for employees; ensuring APL services were available to individuals; training other APL advisers and training subject specialist assessors in APL assessment; and, offering to employers skills audits using national standards.
