Abstract:

This article reviews the implementation of certificate programs in the comprehensive community college, focusing on whether these programs fit within the comprehensive community college mission, determining how workforce and funding promote change and identifying some issues and challenges for implementation. The review also looks at the changes in the demand for workforce education. Findings from the review suggest that certificate programs at community colleges are the obvious solution to employer, citizen, and community concerns about getting and keeping skilled workers.
