Abstract:

International experiences at company, industry and system levels provided a point of contrast to Australian developments. This stream also looked at the experience of major companies in national systems and of international companies spanning many national systems.

International approaches to standards were drawn out, comparing and contrasting approaches. Aspects of existing systems were related, particularly the use of Key Competencies/basic skills, approaches to qualifications and standards level frameworks, commonalities and variations. Critical cultural issues in the transfer of standards and work organisation approaches were discussed, based on South-East Asian research and experience. Experience and issues in the export of education were also covered.
