Abstract:

This evaluation project and report were funded by the Learning Systems and Resources Standing Committee (LSRSC) in 1996 to further the understanding of TAFE SA staff in the development and application of online learning environments in a flexible delivery context. The evaluation involved four classes: two undertaking 'Communication studies' on-campus using online delivery, and two undertaking face-to-face 'Communication studies' classes.

Recommendations included: the benefits of developing whole courses for online delivery; the importance of building into the environment as wide a range of features as possible to provide flexibility; and the need for comprehensive models of staff development to provide teachers with the skills and support needed to work successfully in the online environment.
