Abstract:

The main articles in this issue are: 'Training delivery: a question of style' by Peter Honey which examines the learning style preferences of trainers and how it influences training delivery; 'Bullying at work: how to run an awareness-training day' by Elaine Douglas in which the author raises the issue of bullying in the workplace and suggests that the solution is to raise awareness and offer advice on how to do this; 'NLP: neuro linguistic programming or never the less popular' by Sue Knight which is in response to an article by Gary Platt on NLP in the May issue of 'Training journal'; 'The spirit of success' by Mike Levy in which the author talks to Ken Blanchard, of the Ken Blanchard Companies and co-author of 'The one minute manager' about his approach to training; 'Reflections of a phone coach: does phone coaching really work?' by Chris Carling which looks at the advantages of coaching by phone and also discusses whether it benefits the clients; 'Welcome aboard the e-learning e-xpress' by Alistair Morrisson in which the author discusses online learning in organisations. The News section of this issue reports on recent events, surveys and trends, and current news on the United Kingdom government's training initiatives and workplace reforms.
