Abstract:

The book reports on a survey in the Karratha region in Western Australia of the English language needs of adult migrants. The survey concentrated on that group whose inadequate command of English inhibited their occupational choice, their access to existing community services, and their confident participation in social activities. The findings are discussed and suggestions given.
