Abstract:

This article is part of a paper that was originally delivered to the Technology in Higher Education Conference in Sydney in March 1994.

This article looks at two ongoing projects which use technology to change the ways in which education is accessed. The first part describes the Virtual Factory which is a package which is being developed to simulate a computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) cell. Technical data is provided. The second part describes what is currently available and what is planned in the area of television learning. Study options, costs, viewing audience statistics, an evaluation and problem areas are all discussed.
