Abstract:

The brochure's objective is to provide schoolgoers, parents and teachers with information on how the dual system of vocational training works, what it accomplishes, which job prospects it offers and the problems with which it is confronted. The authors address the following aspects: the current vocational training situation (statistical data), the structure of the dual system of vocational training, transformations in the world of work, new regulated occupations, choice of occupation, training needs, the cost of training, vocational training as a 'quality guarantee' and the dual system as a model for training programs in other countries.
