Abstract:

The theme of the Tampere conference was cooperation between education and working life, and improving the quality of vocational education. Each forum discussed an individual sub-theme.

Mobility in vocational education in Europe is promoted by the EUROPASS Training (ET) decision which took effect early in 2000. EUROPASS is a certificate referred to as the 'European pathways' which verifies a vocational training period completed in another Member State. This forum sought to promote the implementation of the ET by discussing the importance of mobility in vocational education, the role of the ET in mobility, and the possible future development of the ET. The presentations were as follows: Promoting mobility for persons in training the EUROPASS Training / Margarida Marques; Mobility as a learning process / Soren Kristensen; Employers' perspectives to European pathways in work-linked training; The EUROPASS - a short step on the way towards the European worker's mobility / Luis Miguel Fernandez; Printing industry experience / Lauri Norvio; The EUROPASS system in Germany - the EUROPASS from 2000: take-off for a European certificate system / Peter Thiele.
