Abstract:

The relationship between education and vocational competency now occupies a central position in policy and is generating increasing debate among educators. All Australian TAFE authorities are now committed to introducing a highly systematised Competency Based Training System (CBT) for all recognised vocational courses.

This paper discusses both this and some of the other recent developments in competency-based education and training which are most relevant to the TAFE sector.
