Abstract:

This publication presents a systematic description of the situation of teachers and trainers in vocational education and training (VET) in Austria, Belgium, Greece, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. It is part of a series designed to increase mutual understanding and facilitate information exchange about VET in the different Member States of the European Union. The focus of the series is on teachers and trainers, the modes of teacher and trainer training, and pathways into the profession. Five sections, each dealing with a different country, outline the national context and the VET system, and then identify and describe the teachers and trainers, their legal standing, rights and duties, and the unions and professional associations dedicated to the profession. The final part of each section details the training opportunities, both initial and continuing, available to teachers and trainers in VET, along with possibilities for career advancement. Detailed lists of VET courses, training institutions and reference material are included. This series of volumes is indexed from TD/INT 58.347 to TD/INT 58.350.
