Abstract:

This article presents edited extracts from the New South Wales (NSW) submission to the Senate Employment, Workplace Relations, Small Business and Education References Committee's national inquiry into vocational education and training (VET). It outlines areas of concern to NSW regarding the current national VET system, and summarises achievements in NSW regarding its reforms to VET under the National Training Framework. The article also outlines NSW recommendations to the committee regarding: the need to invest in learning; principles for national collaboration in VET; training packages; apprenticeships and traineeships; and VET in schools.
