Abstract:

This paper gives a background to the structure of the education systems in Yemen, and looks at the present reform process taking place there. The main objectives of the reform process are to reduce disparities between the former North and South, and to improve quality and efficiency in order to create a teaching and learning environment which will more closely meet individual and societal needs, providing learners with an education which emphasises technical and vocational aspects and is relevant in the twenty-first century.
