Abstract:

The focus of this issue is on inclusive learning and includes the following articles: 'Where are we now?' by Pat Hood (pp.14-15) which looks at how far the provision for people with learning difficulties and/or other disabilities has come in the 10 years since the landmark Tomlinson report 'Inclusive learning'; 'The elephant in the room' by Peter Lavender (pp.16-17) which says that disability needs to be made visible in policy; 'We've come a long way, but ...' (pp.18-19) in which two development officers in the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education's (NIACE's) Health and Disability Equality team look at the progress that has been made in provision for students with learning difficulties in the last 10 years; 'More and different' by Kathryn James (pp.20-21) which looks at the challenges of providing for learners with mental health difficulties. Also in this issue are: 'Follow the leader' by Kate Waters (pp.26-28) which looks at how multi-level leadership in adult education can be developed; 'Mind the gap' by Fiona Aldridge and Alan Tuckett (p.29) which looks at the challenge to both the education and training system and to employers presented by the under-participation in learning by Bangladeshi and Pakistani adults.
