Abstract:

This paper forms the basis for a presentation delivered at the Training tomorrow - what women want: national seminar, Sydney, NSW, 7-8 May 1998 conducted by the Vocational Employment, Education and Training (VEET) Women's Taskforce. The paper contains case studies of women in training and employment across a wide range of organisations and areas including the arts, communications, community services, health, engineering, finance, local government, sport and recreation, and timber and forestry. The organisations that participated in these case studies have found that by recruiting, training, encouraging and promoting women they are able to achieve a better balance in their workforce and enhance their performance.
