Abstract:
This report is one of two based on a conference organised by the Further Education Staff College and the United Kingdom Council for Overseas Students Affairs (UKCOSA), convened to discuss the development of policies by local education authorities and colleges for the recruitment of overseas students. The title of the conference was 'Policy development in recruiting and contracting for education of overseas students'. This report contains the following papers: Introduction / Gail Taylor; Responsibility in recruitment: the institution and its policy / Nigel Ecclesfield; Issues for institutions to address before embarking on recruitment and contracting; An overseas student's view of support services: we have to tell them everything and they tell us nothing; The needs and expectations of students. It also includes: Action checklist proposed by conference members; Resources and experts; Bibliography.
