Abstract:

As part of its commitment to Victorian young people, in 2000 the Victorian Government established the Pathways Project. In the first phase, the Project operated in 12 areas of high need across the State. There were two strategies mandated for the Project: (1) the formation of a Pathways Network; and (2) the negotiation of Pathways Plans with approximately 100 young people aged 15 to 19 who were in schools, TAFE, adult and community education (ACE), university or other providers. This document is a report on the evaluation of the Project. The Pathways Project was funded to implement key recommendations of the Ministerial Review of Post Compulsory Education and Training Pathways in Victoria. The evaluation of this first phase of the Pathways Project shows clearly that there was strong commitment by stakeholders to assist young people with their pathways planning. It also demonstrated how the Pathways Networks worked in different ways to support young people.
