Abstract:

This guide is for people involved in assessing and verifying the national standards for assessment and verification. It aims to clarify how the national standards for assessment and verification should be implemented, and takes account of the increasing use of witness testimony and simulation as ways of assessing the D-units. The units covered by this guide are: Assess candidate performance (D32); Assess the candidate using differing sources of evidence (D33); Internally verify the assessment process (D34); Externally verify the assessment process (D35); and Advise and support candidates to identify prior achievement (D36). It is important to note that the units have a clearly defined and limited role in the training and development Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) - the D-units were developed specifically for people assessing the competence of individual candidates for national certification.
