Abstract:

This project was commissioned by Manpower Services Commission and had two main tasks: (1) to identify, within a local labour market, the sort of job opportunities available to 16 year old school leavers; and (2) to collection information about the skills used in these jobs, and to analyse this information in terms of skills that run through a wide range of jobs, skills that characterise families of jobs, and skills that are specific to particular types of work.
