Abstract:

The program for this conference was structured around sub-sessions focusing on particular themes. This paper was part of the seventh theme: ‘Skills for the new millennium’. Vocational education has been developing rapidly in China in the last few years. Zhejiang University of Technology (ZUT) formulated a flowchart of industry partnership for the graduation stage - the last semester of 13-16 weeks - based on the characteristics and objectives of vocational education. After three years’ experiment with industry partnerships, the college has been successful not only in training students to apply what they learn and develop their skills, but also to prepare for their future employment. In this paper, the authors make a comparison between traditional practice and industry partnership in the graduation stage and, after analysing the characteristics, they conclude that the latter can achieve better results through strict management.
