Author: Marinko, Irena

Abstract:

This paper is taken from the fifth group session on Monday 22 July 2002 at the International Vocational Education and Training Organisation (IVETA) Conference. Globalisation and the restructuring of the labour market have not been met by changes and developments in education and training to increase the employability of people in Slovenia. An increase in services industries and a decline in production industries necessitate workers with higher levels of education. The author makes comparisons between Slovenia, Germany and the USA, and outlines implications of the labour market for the Slovene training policy. More vocational education and training (VET) institutions are required, and better collaboration between education and industry is needed, in order for Slovenia to produce employable graduates.

The proceedings for Monday 22 July are indexed at TD/TNC 78.331; the proceedings for Tuesday 23 July are indexed at TD/TNC 78.332; and the proceedings for Wednesday 24 July are indexed at TD/TNC 78.333.

Selected papers are indexed from TD/TNC 78.334 to TD/TNC 78.350 and TD/TNC 78.451 to TD/TNC 78.457.
