Abstract:
The [first] section gives an overview of the labour market for the trades in general, but gives particular attention to the metal, electrical and building trade groups. After discussing general economic and labour market background, the report examines the size and major characteristics of the trades labour force and analyses some significant trends in supply and demand. The report then draws out some implications for training based on the preceding analysis and suggests adjustments to the training effort that may be necessary to ensure that, as far as possible, supply and demand are in approximate balance in the short to medium term.
