Abstract:
This is the first in a series of short articles to highlight how to search for relevant materials on selected topics on the VOCED database. Rather than give a definitive statement about what is available, these articles give an overview of the types of information that are available on a topic.
The topic is industrial training organisations. Using a definition to set up the initial search strategy with poor results meant that a revised search strategy had to be used. Lateral thinking when choosing appropriate terms and the benefits of trying more than one kind of search are illustrated. The article highlights the difficulty of finding relevant information on a generic term such as industrial training organisations.
