Author: Siddiqi, M. M. R.

Abstract:

This article appears in Chapter 3 - Boundaryless TET, which presents different approaches to aspects of technician education and training (TET) which might lend themselves to adaptation or adoption in other places or cultures. The author describes Developing A Curriculum (DACUM) as a quick, effective and less expensive method of developing a curriculum. It is an analytical approach which allows competences to be determined and then broken down into their smallest parts before being synthesised into modules. A task analysis identifies the learning outcomes or goals and can be used for courses of any size. Siddiqi then explains DACUM in three parts: first, the philosophy of DACUM and the selection and role of the DACUM committee; then the Australian experience is given in some detail; and finally, the role of DACUM for the future.

The volume of collected papers is indexed at TD/IRD 88.87.
