Abstract:

This brief chapter describes the (non-government organisation) NGO Service Centre, which aims to strengthen the capacity of Egyptian civil society organisations, with the Office of Civil Society Strengthening and Promotion (OCSSP) being responsible for delivering training and technical services to NGOs in Egypt. It focuses on the OCSSP program aimed at the training of trainers for adult education programs. This program is intended to develop sustainable and indigenous training and technical resources for the NGO community and to develop a cadre of providers of adult education and training and technical assistance in specific fields, including advocacy, management, gender issues and governance. The findings are that more attention should be paid to the screening process at an early stage and a one day orientation workshop should be conducted so that prospective participants are made aware of the level of effort and commitment required of them. Finally, the participants should be involved in the development of training materials and training sessions.

The complete volume is indexed at TD/IRD 88.116; individual chapters are indexed from TD/TNC 82.22 to TD/TNC 82.41.
