Abstract:

This timely publication will allay many fears and concerns about translating assessment and placement tasks into the reporting language of the NRS (National Reporting System). This book has been developed with the primary audience of the Literacy and Numeracy program tenderers who must make initial assessments of referred Centrelink clients. The document details good practice for conducting the interview, making the assessment, how to adapt existing assessment materials to the NRS, and how to develop assessment tasks and questions from particular performance indicators of the NRS. The book has wider applications for anyone involved in assessment and placement, and who wants to critically reflect on their interview technique and the quality of their assessment tasks. The book also details a number of proformas for use within the interview situation, and ways of recording information.
