Abstract:

A series of 10 working papers entitled 'The changing contexts and structures of post-compulsory schooling in Victoria' and an overview statement that provided criteria for evaluating restructuring proposals were offered by the State Board of Education as part of the process of addressing the recommendations in the Ministerial Review of Postcompulsory schooling. This paper looks at: statewide distribution of enrolments between sectors; types of provision; differences in enrolments between the sexes; pupil movement between types of schools; regional differences in the size of the non-governmental sector; curriculum offerings at Year 12; and the interface with TAFE.
