Abstract:

This research examines the employment and further education outcomes and experiences of former AMES Australia clients who completed the Settlement Language Pathways to Employment and Training (SLPET) program in 2014-15. SLPET is an Australia-wide, government funded program targeted at recently arrived migrants from non-English speaking backgrounds (NESB) with the aim of assisting them to improve their English proficiency whilst giving them exposure to Australian workplace cultures and practices.
