In April 2012, the New South Wales (NSW) government signed the National Partnership Agreement on Skills Reform. ‘Smart and skilled’ meets NSW’s commitment under that agreement. The reform will introduce: an entitlement for government subsidised training up to and including Certificate III; funding for higher level training and skill sets in priority areas; informed choice with improved quality measures; recognition of the role and function of TAFE NSW as the public provider; greater support for regions and equity groups; and better information for consumers.
