Glossary term: National Skills Standards Council

Acronym: NSSC

A committee established in July 2011 to provide advice to the Standing Council for Tertiary Education, Skills and Employment (SCOTESE), successor of the Ministerial Council for Tertiary Education and Employment (MCTEE), on national standards for regulation of vocational education and training. This role was previously undertaken by the National Quality Council (NQC), which was dissolved in late June 2011.

NSSC was dissolved in April 2014 by the newly established COAG Industry and Skills Council (CISC) as part of efforts to streamline the governance arrangements of the national training system and its functions delegated to industry representatives and selected senior officials through CISC.
